69 Undocumented Workers Discovered in North Sea Offshore Enforcement Operation

The UK Home Office has confirmed that 69 undocumented workers were identified during a major enforcement operation carried out today across multiple offshore platforms in the North Sea.

North Sea | 14 May

The operation formed part of the Home Office’s ongoing offshore patrols and compliance checks targeting illegal working within high-risk and remote industrial environments. Immigration enforcement officers, supported by maritime patrol units and offshore safety regulators, boarded and inspected several installations as part of a coordinated, multi-agency action.

Companies Identified During the Operation

According to official sources, the 69 workers were found to be engaged through contractors and subcontractors linked to the following companies operating on the inspected platforms:

  • DHw Engineering — 20 workers
  • NorthSea Mechanical Solutions Ltd — 17 workers
  • Aegis Offshore Services — 10 workers
  • BlueTide Energy Contractors — 12 workers
  • Helios Platform Maintenance Group — 10 workers

The Home Office confirmed that the individuals were in breach of UK immigration and employment regulations, including the absence of valid authorization to work on offshore installations.

Immediate Enforcement Action

Authorities stated that all relevant enforcement actions have been taken, including the issuance of civil penalties, compliance notices, and the commencement of further investigations into employment practices and labor supply chains connected to the platforms.

A Home Office spokesperson said:

“This operation reinforces our commitment to tackling illegal working wherever it occurs, including in remote offshore locations. Employers and contractors must ensure full compliance with UK law. Where breaches are identified, we will act swiftly and decisively.”

Operational Impact

Officials confirmed that offshore production and safety operations were not disrupted during the inspections, and all activities were conducted in accordance with established maritime and safety protocols.s.

The Home Office added that further enforcement operations across the North Sea are planned as part of a broader strategy to safeguard lawful employment, maintain offshore safety standards, and prevent labor exploitation.
